Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar has appointed a former Ahmadu Bello University Vice Chancellor and current Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Professor Ango Abdullahi as the chairman of the state owned tertiary institution, Bauchi State University.
In his remarks, Gov. M. A. Abubakar who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Nuhu Gidado, highlighted that the enormous rot in the education sector spanned decades. He noted some of the problems like poor infrastructure, inadequately trained teachers, lack of data about the sector among others.
Responding on behalf of the inaugurated members of Boards, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, Chairman Governing Council Bauchi State University, commended the state government for establishing structural systems to ensure goals are met and resources are judiciously utilized.
He said the confidence bestowed on them will be repaid by working hard to ensure improvement in the education sector.
He added that there will be challenges but with hard work and thrift management of allotted resources, success will be made.
Prof. Ango also charged the government to ensure the state and region is not short-changed, while praising Gov. Abubakar for doing all to close the gap in the education sector and secure the future of Bauchi’s children.
The governor also inaugurated members of state owned boards and agencies.
