Gov. Sani Bello woos Indonesian investors

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has urged Indonesian investors to cash on the abundant availability of high quality Cotton in the state to establish textile manufacturing companies.

He made the call yesterday when he played host to Mr. Harry Purwanto, the Indonesia Ambassador to Nigeria in his office in Minna yesterday.

The governor who acknowledged the uniqueness of Indonesian fabrics told the envoy that Niger state is endowed with abundant and high quality cotton, a raw material for the textile industry, hence the call on Indonesian fabric manufacturers to leverage on and start production in the state.

He assured the Indonesian business community of conducive business environment that will guarantee profitable return on their investment.

Gov. Sani Bello who commended the Indonesian Small Medium Enterprise (SME) sector said his administration is desirous of collaborating with the Asian country with a view to developing and perfecting the state’s SME sector.

“We are impressed by the way your country handles her SMEs. We are ready to partner with you to develop our SMEs the way you have developed yours,” Gov. Sani Bello told the visiting ambassador.

The governor also called for collaboration with Indonesia in the areas of agriculture, tourism and youth development which he said are the priority areas of focus of his administration.

The governor then acceded to the request for allocation of land for the siting of an Industrial Park, to be situated at Tegina, in Rafi Local Government area of the state for the manufacturing of Indonesia products
Earlier the Indonesia Ambassador, Mr. Harry Purwanto expressed the readiness of investors from his country to collaborate with the government in developing the vast natural and economic potentials of the country.

He said his country and Nigeria have a lot in common and stand to benefit from the over half a century diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

The ambassador said that a team of investors had earlier visited the country with the sole aim of establishing an industrial park for Indonesian products.

Purwanto then commended the efforts of Niger State governor at ensuring an improved state.
